Kolam Contests
On Jan.5 and 6, 3.45 pm. People are invited to design traditional 'pulli' kolam in designated spaces on North Mada Street. Open to 125 people, first come first serve. Call Ms Preetha on 94443 81298. Prizes for best 15 every event.
Pallankuzhi Contest
On Jan 5 and on Jan.6. At Hotel Karpagam hall, South Mada Street. You must bring your own Pallankuzhi board and shells to the event and play with the person drawn by lots in a given time. Winners will be chosen by top scores. Prizes for three age groups. To register call Ms Preetha on 94443 81298.
Art Contest For Kids
Daily from, 5 pm onwards, at Nageswara Rao Park. Open to kids in class 4 to 6. bring all art materials you require. Topic will be given on the spot.
Quiz
The Mylapore Quiz covers everything to do with people, places, streets and bylane and trivia about Mylapore and its neighbourhood ( includes San Thome!). Written test for prelims. Final feature six teams. Team can be made of 2 people, any age group. On Jan.6, 3.30 pm at Hotel Karpagam hall.
Treasure Hunt
The Mylapore Hunt is a fun event but will need your enthusiasm, energy and knowledge of the area. Teams pick up the question and clue sheet at Nageswara Rao Park bet 6.30 am and 7.30 am on 6th January and have time till 3 pm to crack the clues / queries. By 3 pm, they must drop off the answer sheets at Hotel Karpagam hall on S. Mada Street. Prizes for teams which crack all/max. questions.
P. S. The questions lead teams to various places in the heart of Mylapore. Answers will be clues to different destinations. Field work is integral to this contest. Teams do not have to keep to time limits / tight schedules. Team must have 3 people.
Tamil Poetry Contest
Open to all. Theme should be related to Mylapore. 10 to 30 lines. Send entries marked 'Poetry Contest' to Mylapore Festival, C/o. Mylapore Times, 77, C. P. Ramaswamy Road, Alwarpet, Chennai - 18, Registration closes on Dec. 26. 5 pm.
